Do
you want to create cheap and long-lasting edging that makes your garden stand out?
This blog will help you do just that. Use our steps to make your planting beds
attractive without spending huge. Before we start, here is a list of all the
essential tools and materials that are required to create the perfect edging
for your garden and it includes: hammer, hardboard, saw, wood stakes, drill,
shovel, wood screws, mixing hoe, wood float, edging tool, concrete mix, liquid
cement colour, bucket, mixing tub and acrylic concrete sealer.
STEP 1
The first step follows laying the borders of your edging using a hose or a length of rope. To achieve the best outcome, create a design that sets the border at least 5 inches wide.
STEP 2
Dig out the planned edging areas 4 inches deep and 8 inches wide and compress the soil to form a solid foundation for the concrete that will be added up in the latter stage of the edging process.
STEP 3
Once the excavation is completed, insert 1″ x 1″ x 12″ wooden stakes at each one and a half foot intervals along the edging.
STEP 4
Use 1 inch wood screws to attach 1/4″ x 4″ x 8″ pieces of hardboard to the wooden stakes. Use flexible ones for curved borders while rigid plywood for the angular ones.
STEP 5
To forge spacers, cut a board in 1”x1” in length that should be equal to the width of the border. While doing it, use the wooden stakes and set them at 3 foot intervals instead of one and a half intervals. Once done, use the spacers and place them below the excavated area to maintain a steady garden border width.
Hopefully these steps
will help you achieve the right kind of concrete garden borders for your Toowoomba
planting beds.

STEP 6
In order to create durable concrete garden borders in
Toowoomba, mix the concrete well until it forms a firm workable consistency,
then pour the mixture into the dugout border edge. Use a margin trowel to
spread the mix and combine it properly.
STEP 7
Wait until all the extra water disappears. Then use a
wooden float to even out the surface. Once done, use a margin trowel to cut the
joints at three foot intervals for control purposes. Each dig should be at
least 1 inch deep. After that, even out the border edges using a concrete edging
tool.
STEP 8
The final step follows applying acrylic concrete sealers
to the concrete and leaving it to dry and mix well for the next 3 to 5 days. Once
the concrete has evened out, use dirt and sod to remove the forms and backfills
from the garden edges properly.
